The history of the Guess brand began in California in 1981. It was founded by the Jewish Marcian brothers who moved to the US from France. American fashion stagnated in the 1980s, and the fresh breeze of French elegance and casual Western-style quickly found its way into a lot of American hearts. In 1985, Guess presented a popular advertising campaign with black and white photographs, which won not only a lot of prestigious awards but mainly expanded awareness of the brand. Guess has also helped a few models in their career, like Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer. Today, the brand is well-known all over the world and besides handbags, clothes or perfumes it also focuses on jewellery and watches.
